ABOUT ME

Doula and Hypnobirthing Instructor

Hello and welcome, my name is Rachel and I am a Doula and Hypnobirthing Instructor based in West Yorkshire.

I am a Mother to Charlie and Wife to Nigel and in the summer of 2022 we relocated to West Yorkshire from Carshalton, Surrey.

I decided to step into birth work after almost 10 years in the NHS, supporting families in the community as an Early Intervention Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Health Visitor) offering intensive support through evidence based interventions during the antenatal period and early childhood years. It got to the point where I found the challenges of providing quality healthcare within the systematic restrictions of the NHS overwhelming and led to me experiencing burnout.

After taking some time to recover by focusing on my own self care, health and wellbeing I decided to leave my role but I wanted to be able to use my knowledge, skills and expertise to continue to support and care for all at this incredibly important time in their lives. By becoming a Doula I was able to do this, in a way that I would not be forced to compromise in any area of the service I was providing and be able to offer appropriate support and care to all families throughout the four trimesters of the pregnancy, birth and postnatal journey. I subsequently trained as a Hypnobirthing Instructor to enhance my services and offer further support around the planning and preparation for birth and the postnatal period.

My core values and beliefs mean that I would like for everyone to feel safe, reassured, cared for and listened to throughout their own individual experience and journey to parenthood.
