Did you know that only 4% of babies actually arrive on their due date?
A colleague of mine suggested to use the term Guess date instead. I like it or maybe Guide date? After all the date is a guide for around the time (plus or minus a couple of weeks and as long as there are no special circumstances) your baby is likely to arrive. If you are having a planned abdominal birth you probably have an idea of what date this will be, but if you do not then it can be an anxious time as the expected date of delivery gets closer.
I am definitely someone who likes to plan and I do not like surprises, but as with some things in life, you have to let go of the plan and consider your preferences instead. It’s good to be prepared and ready for baby’s arrival around this time but also working on the things that will support you to remain calm, relaxed and encourage the oxytocin to flow.
Hypnobirthing can help you to develop tools to support a positive, calm and relaxed birth however it occurs. It can also aid in keeping the anxiety at bay during your pregnancy.
